Rossi’s Fiorentina Reach Final
Giuseppe Rossi could still feature this season after the Fiorentina striker received a boost with regards to his recovery from the serious knee injury he picked up last month.
It was initially thought that he would take no further part in the latest campaign, which would have also put his World Cup participation in doubt in Brazil later in the year.
However, after travelling to the United States to see a specialist, he was told that there were signs that the injury was improving. He will also not need to go undergo surgery for the problem which reduced his rehabilitation time.
The 27-year old has played on 29 occasions for Italy, but never at a World Cup. He did not make Marcello Lippi’s squad in 2010 so he will be desperate to try and get fit in time for the competition.
Italy are 28/1 with bet365 in the bet on football market to win the World Cup for a fifth time.
Rossi did not feature for Fiorentina in their semi-final victory of the Coppa Italia clash with Udinese on Tuesday evening. His teammates were able to overcome their one goal deficit from the first leg to advance 3-2 on aggregate.
Manuel Pasqual scored the first goal of the evening on 14 minutes to bring the scores level again. Then just after the hour mark, Guillermo Cuadrado fired home to give the hosts the victory as heard in the live football commentary.
Fiorentina will now face Napoli in the final of the cup competition. Rafael Benitez’s side defeated Roma 5-3 over two legs to book their spot there. The two sides will meet in May for the trophy at the Stade Olimpico in Rome.
