Fiorentina Close in on Europe, as Rossi Nears Comeback
Giuseppe Rossi’s new club, Fiorentina, are on the brink of qualifying for Europe next season after the Florence club beat Siena 1-0 in midweek to maintain fourth position in Serie A.
Although Rossi is yet to play for his new club he is close to returning and, with just two more rounds of league fixtures remaining, his presence could be vital to Fiorentina’s efforts of playing in Europe next season.
Sadly, many Champions League betting fans have come to accept the Viola won’t be playing in Europe’s top club competition next term – they are four points behind AC Milan with just two games left – yet fourth place secures a berth in the Europa League and this is fine reward for a hard season.
For boss Vincenzo Montella is overseeing an upsurge in the club’s fortunes after Fiorentina finished 13th in the league last season and the purchase of Rossi from Valladolid proved what big plans the manager has for this team.
Because of Rossi’s knee problems the Italian has been unable to make his debut as yet but scored during his first reserve appearance in mid April and may earn a substitute run-out before the season is over.
Fiorentina host Palermo at the weekend knowing victory would secure Europa League football and put pressure on Milan, who have a tricky clash with AS Roma to deal with this weekend.
Should Milan lose then Vincenzo’s players will sense their chance of playing in the Champions League next season and betting fans should consider them safe money to beat both Palermo and Pescara in these final two weeks of Serie A.
